Are you out in the sun enough?
As the sun is reaching in it is important to not only put sun lotion on but to also get out there and soak it up! The sun provides us with the best source of Vitamin D on the planet and that is no lie. Occasionally a doctor will tell a patient to go out there and get into the sun to make the most of the vibrant source of Vitamin D.
It is hard to get your nutritional supplements these days. After all eating healthy and living a pro-active life is not high on everyones agenda. But while the summer is here it is important to get out there and soak it up as it is such a valuable source of good vitamins that the body needs to function to its best potential.
So how does this actually work? Well when the suns rays hit the skin, a pre-vitamin D compound is manufactured and transformed by the body into active Vitamin D. However many doctors out there are not promoting too much exposure to the sun. They all recommend to wear sun block to help prevent skin cancer. However, most doctors believe that this fear of the sun and its strength is contributing to vitamin D deficiency. The relationship between staying out in the sun and skin cancer is very complicated: Some researches would indicate that the Vitamin D protects against skin cancers, but stronger research shows a connection between melanoma and too much sun. This is far more recurrent than anything else.
It has also been claimed that exposing your skin to the sun (whilst wearing sun cream of course) can be beneficial for your digestive system as well. Digestive supplements have been known for years to aid the digestive transit but now doctors from around the world are claiming that the sun can help friendly bacteria grow from within the intestine. Whatever will they or can they think of next?
